Our Organization
Street Cat Community Outreach (SCCO) is a registered 501c3 non-profit, all-volunteer organization serving Morgan County, Indiana. We are committed to improving the lives of Morgan County cats by spaying and neutering both homeless and owned cats in targeted areas of underserved and economically depressed neighborhoods.
SCCO’s strategy is known as “Targeted TNR” (Trap-Neuter-Return). Targeted TNR means attempting to trap every cat in a specific area for TNR and then expanding to surrounding areas. This approach improves the lives of cats by significantly decreasing overpopulation and disease.
Not only does SCCO want to improve the lives of cats, but we also aim to reduce the number of cats entering our animal shelter. We hope to do this by achieving 100% sterilization of cats in these targeted areas, by taking a proactive, grassroots approach through community outreach: walking neighborhoods, knocking on doors, identifying the location of cats and their human caretakers, enlisting the help of residents, and providing resources. We will strive to establish collaborative relationships with property owners, government agencies, and animal welfare organizations to incite solutions to the cat overpopulation crisis.
SCCO believes citizens will choose to provide humane care for cats when given the resources and support to do so.
